Sunday Ramblin’ 5-29-2022

E.M. is our hostess for a weekly ramble through all sorts of stuff.  It’s fun and if you’d like to join in click here.

This week’s topic is:

“Uplifting Chatter“

Here are the questions:

  1. When you feel negative, what techniques do you use to bring yourself up to feeling positive?
  2. What is a smell that made you smile when you woke up today?
  3. An owl is known for its wisdom, what are you known for?
  4. Do you know any good recipes? If so, can you share one? (If you don’t cook, tell me your favorite food recipe that someone else makes for you.)
  5. How do you console the people around you? (Online or in-person)

My Responses

  1. When you feel negative, what techniques do you use to bring yourself up to feeling positive?  At this particular juncture none of my old stand-bys are working.  I just don’t feel positive and wonder if I ever will again.  My glass?  Permanently empty.

  2. What is a smell that made you smile when you woke up today?   Perfume and fabric softener on my blanket.
  3. An owl is known for its wisdom, what are you known for?  Probably being the biggest crab in known history.
  4. Do you know any good recipes? If so, can you share one? (If you don’t cook, tell me your favorite food recipe that someone else makes for you.)   Usually I cook for myself.  But just now I’ve been hitting the ‘eat out’ button due to depression.  Mashed potatoes are always comforting.
  5. How do you console the people around you? (Online or in-person)   Some would call it ‘mouthing platitudes”.  To the online community what else is there to do, really?  It’s all I got.  In person?  What persons?  I’ve closed the gate and pulled up the walkway over the moat and am dwelling in solitude.  People (not in this community granted) SUCK.

  1. When you feel negative, what techniques do you use to bring yourself up to feeling positive? – I just put on some music to clear my head.
What is a smell that made you smile when you woke up today? – My first cup of coffee at breakfast.
An owl is known for its wisdom, what are you known for? – Sniffing out a bargain or two.

  2. Once, when I said I had an empty glass, I was told “at least you have a glass”. Not helpful though, I’m sure. I do hope you find some positivity soon. I totally hear you on the people suck comment. What happened to humanity?

  3. Hubby and I would rather have the company of dogs to people except in rare circumstances.
As for your glass………… there is something in it that perhaps you cannot see? Thinking of you.
Hugs for you and treats by proxy for Ziggy.

    1. Ziggy says thanks and the same for Maya. Maybe there is something in there, but seeing through the glass darkly I’m missing it probably. This will pass in time. It’s just a bit overwhelming when there’s so much bad and good has taken foot in hand and beat it (apparently). I hope England doesn’t ‘catch’ that unthinkable mess of shooting innocents. And I have to be vigilant and just say “no” when such a story is brought up. It’s too much to deal with right now. Thanks Di!

    1. I think we’ve found a sort of safe place or haven here. Things still make sense here, people are their best selves and we’re fortunate. It’s been a life line and there are none left outside for me. This is a huge step back in the whole healing process, because “happy joy joy” is not applicable. Thanks, Ashley.
